We Energies Substation – Germantown

Challenge

We Energies sought to build an electrical substation in Germantown, Wis., to improve its electrical distribution infrastructure and meet increasing energy needs of the growing community. A resident opposed to the project spread misinformation and circulated a related petition, resulting in the Village Board rejecting a needed rezoning for the project.

Execution
The Lynne Broydrick Group successfully mitigated opposition and built support for the substation by presenting correct, factual information, and listening to concerns, at door-to-door meetings with residents. Once they considered the facts, neighbors understood that the substation was needed and would benefit the community.

Result
The Village Board reconsidered the project. Many neighbors, who initially opposed the substation, now spoke in support of the project. The rezoning for the substation was approved.
